I’m obsessed with … the 1st Annual Ski Trip

The 1st Annual Ski Trip started out as one of those things you talk about with your friends, but usually never happens. Until it does happen. And it rocks.

The destination of our trip ended up being two-fold — a nice weekend getaway to Frankfort, Michigan at Pat’s pad, paired with skiing on Crystal Mountain. Drive time was 6 hours. Worth every minute. Here’s a quick photo recap from the trip:

Visiting downtown Frankfort.

Beautiful evening hike to the dunes and the lake … it got super intense, trust me.

Crystal Mountain.

Skiing on Crystal Mountain.

Quick mid-day beer break at the Ski Lodge.

Beautiful view. Unreal.

Post-skiing happy hour.

The white tundra on Sunday morning.

Have I mentioned I’m obsessed with this trip??

Crystal Mountain was amazing. Within driving distance for a weekend getaway from Chi, but also a big enough mountain that we were able to go on different runs all day. Plus the people we met — both staff and other skiers — were the nicest, just top-notch. I legit want to visit every weekend.

It’s shocking to me how much of a “city girl” I’ve become. I found myself appreciating the silliest things — actually seeing stars or seeing for miles vs. 10 feet into the next building. I guess you can take the girl out of Iowa but you can’t take Iowa out of the girl? Whatever it is, the trip rocked. ROCKED.

Next adventure to Frankfort? Rounding everyone up for a summer getaway … I’m in.

About thetwentysixthyear

September 6, 2011: I turn twenty-six years old. I live and work in downtown Chicago and really can't complain about too much -- great family, great friends, great life. So this is my personal blog. Experiencing and living my twenty-sixth year. I have no idea what to expect or where I'll be one year from now ... but one thing is certain: I will enjoy the ride.
